A QUICK, NONINVASIVE LOOK AT SUDOMOTOR FUNCTION

sudoscan pic.HEIC

Our SUDOscan system at Regenerative Therapy of Lady Lake

SUDOscan is a noninvasive assessment that measures electrochemical skin conductance in the palms of the hands and soles of the feet. The results provide information about sweat-gland function, also called sudomotor function, which involves small autonomic nerve fibers.

The assessment takes approximately three minutes and requires no needles. You place your bare feet and hands on the sensor plates while the measurements are collected.

SUDOscan results are reviewed together with your symptoms, health history, and other clinical findings. The assessment does not independently diagnose every cause of neuropathy or replace appropriate medical evaluation.

HOW IT WORKS

01. PREPARE

Remove your shoes and socks to allow direct contact with the sensor plates.

02. SCAN

Place your bare feet and palms on the electrode sensors for 3 minutes.

03. RESULTS

Dr. Gilliland reviews your electrochemical skin-conductance measurements together with your symptoms, health history, and other clinical findings.

FROM ASSESSMENT TO NEXT STEPS

01. SUDOSCAN ASSESSMENT

Place your bare feet and palms on the SUDOscan sensor plates. The measurement takes approximately three minutes and requires no needles.

02. REVIEW YOUR RESULTS

Dr. Gilliland reviews your hand and foot measurements together with your symptoms, health history, and other clinical findings.

03. DISCUSS APPROPRIATE NEXT STEPS

Your results are one part of the evaluation. When appropriate, we discuss additional testing, care options, or referral to another healthcare provider.

WHY SUDOSCAN IS PART OF OUR EVALUATION

SUDOscan provides a quick, noninvasive measurement of sudomotor function. It gives us another piece of objective information to consider alongside your symptoms, health history, examination findings, and other appropriate testing.

QUICK AND NONINVASIVE

The assessment takes approximately three minutes and requires no needles, blood work, or biopsies.

SIMPLE PATIENT EXPERIENCE

You place your bare hands and feet on the sensor plates while the system collects electrochemical skin-conductance measurements.

PART OF THE CLINICAL PICTURE

Dr. Gilliland reviews the results with you and considers them together with your symptoms, health history, and other clinical findings. SUDOscan is not used as a stand-alone diagnosis.

COMMON PATIENT QUESTIONS

DOES THE ASSESSMENT HURT?

No. The assessment requires no needles, skin punctures, blood work, or painful shocks. A very low electrical signal is used while your hands and feet rest on the sensor plates.

DOES A NORMAL RESULT MEAN I HAVE NO NERVE-RELATED CONCERNS?

Not necessarily. SUDOscan measures sudomotor function and provides one piece of information about the small autonomic nerve fibers involved in sweat-gland function. Results must be considered together with your symptoms, health history, examination, and other appropriate testing.

DOES SUDOSCAN PROVIDE A DIAGNOSIS?

No. SUDOscan is an FDA-cleared assessment tool, but its results are not used as a stand-alone diagnosis. Dr. Gilliland reviews the measurements as part of your overall clinical evaluation.

CAN I USE INSURANCE FOR THE ASSESSMENT?

Regenerative Therapy of Lady Lake is a direct-pay clinic and does not bill insurance for this assessment. The current fee will be confirmed when you schedule.
